While realizing that the standards of UK hotels are not what we're used to in the US, I can best describe this one as "shabby". We were hoping for vintage charm, not worn out. The bones of the hotel were lovely - high ceilings, wide hallways, decent size rooms for a London hotel, but other things were odd, or just not sensible. Our shower/tub water taps were in the middle of the long side, which was very awkward for showering. You had to pull yourself up into the tub using the handicap bar, as the bathroom was so narrow. They barely fit the toilet in the room, and maybe I'm just being a girl here, but a direct view of a full size mirror from the toilet isn't a great placement choice in my mind. We had a wonderful view of a fire escape staircase and a wall from our window. That being said, the room was warm, the bed was comfortable, and the mini bar was well stocked. A coffee pot would have been nice. Odd that it wasn't there. The fact that there is no real lobby, and you have to walk in via a lounge restaurant is strange. We asked the concierge for dining tips for pubs and Indian restaurants and he was extremely condescending. If it was an old movie, I'd swear he was sneering and curling his lip at us. The bellhops were courteous, though, as was the desk help, although they were less than fully competant. All in all, not great, but not bad. Not as distinctive as we had hoped it would be. I would not stay there again.

I stayed in this hotel for a business trip. I travel a lot and have stayed in many Sheraton's but this is by far the worst! My room was just a standard, but the walls were dirty, the room had little natural light, very old (this is usually fine with me if well maintained), the bath tub/shower curtain didn't fully cover the tub and I always got lots of water on the floor. I am a Starwoods member and the hotel would only upgrade me for $100 per night more. I was told that the executive rooms were remodeled, but all of the standard rooms were like the one I got. I don't mind small and I don't mind old, but I insist on CLEAN! I was supposed to return to this hotel for 2 weeks in September, but I am changing my reservation. I talked with the Front Desk about my future 2 week stay asking them if this is the kind of room I could expect, and I would have to request a room that has been painted. Ugh!!!

Beautiful entry and lounge area, although always smelled of cigarette smoke. After we got to the hotel there was a vague letter regarding some radioactivity on the 8th floor, which wasn't such a great thing to see when first checking in. All in all, a nice hotel in a good location."
